The vulnerability of power grid is one of the core contents of large-scale power grid security research. Under the background of frequent power system blackouts at home and abroad, it is difficult for traditional methods to analyze the generation and propagation process of large-scale cascading failures. With the development and application of complex network theory, this new method breaks through the limitation of the traditional method, and provides a new angle and direction for studying the vulnerability of large power grid. This paper first introduces two basic models of complex networks and their common evaluation indexes, secondly, the research, development and application of node importance discovery, vulnerable line identification, cascading failures in a single network and cascading failures between dependent networks are described in detail, the operation state of power grid is analyzed synthetically. Finally, from the perspective of complex network theory, the future research direction of power grid vulnerability is summarized and prospected.
